The Detox Drop's Top Tip: Avoid Your Fat-Storing Mode

Robert Ferguson, M.S., C.N., Weight Loss Expert, Popular Author and Inspirational Lecturer, has helped thousands upon thousands of people of all ages lose staggering amounts of weight and keep it off with his novel approach to fat loss. He is the author of two influential weight loss books, he has written more than a 1000 articles on nutrition and fat loss, and he appears regularly on national television and radio promoting his philosophy of a Diet Free Life. He has spent nearly 15 years teaching people from all walks of life the simple secrets that will let them lose fat fast without giving up the foods they love, with the pinnacle being his soon to be released Food Lovers Fat Loss System. His just-released, all-new The Detox Drop, built on these same principles, also cleanses and detoxifies your body while speeding up your metabolism so that you can lose as many as 11 pounds in just 6 days.

Robert Ferguson--

Top Tip: If you want to lose weight and keep it off, eat every 2 to 3 hours – that’s 3 meals a day with snacks in-between and up to 1 hour before bed!

Starvation doesn't work for losing fat, and all of us know it! Yet we’ve all tried it and still continue to try it, getting the same results each time: lose some weight at first (and be totally miserable while doing it), but probably lose more precious lean body mass than fat. And soon thereafter, we realize we can't live by starving, so we gain all the weight back, sometimes even more.

You have to eat to lose fat, every 2 to 3 hours to be exact. A key part of fat loss is preventing surges of insulin, that pesky fat-storing hormone in our bodies, and we do this by keeping our blood sugar levels even. When blood sugar levels are even, insulin continues doing its normal job and doesn't end up causing us to become over fat. Eating every 2 to 3 hours keeps an even, steady supply of carbohydrates for our bodies to convert into sugar in our blood to burn as fuel, and if we have excess fat, our bodies start burning it up too. So eating the right way, every 2 to 3 hours, helps us burn fat. If you go just one minute past 3 hours without eating, you put yourself in fat-storing mode. We don’t want to be there; we want to stay in fat-burning mode. Plus, when you’re eating every 2 to 3 hours, you’re less likely to feel deprived and restricted because you can live this way and keep the weight off for a lifetime.

As a general rule, think of your eating schedule of every 2 to 3 hours as a meal, then a snack, then a meal, then a snack and so on. You don’t have to eat that way though. You could eat a meal, then a snack, then a snack, then a meal for example. The key is, you are eating every 2 to 3 hours and keeping yourself in fat-burning mode. While it’s not suggested that you do it often, even if you eat a chocolate bar for a snack, you are eating correctly, provided it has been 2 to 3 hours since the last time you ate, and the caloric range of that chocolate, cookie or energy bar to name a few is 100 to 200 for women, 100 to 300 for men.

Although I teach people to lose weight without having to count calories, when it comes to snacking – I do encourage an awareness of calories because many snacks are packaged products and it is in our best interest to read the label. Otherwise, whole foods such as an apple or banana, or a slice of toast with a tablespoon of natural peanut butter are going to easily range between 100 and 200 calories. More importantly, when you focus on the caloric range of snacks, you optimize your blood sugar – keeping you from being concerned with whether or not the sugar is too high. This way, you satisfy your body and keep it in fat-burning mode.

This said, we can all benefit from a fresh start or jump start on our fitness and weight loss goals while getting used to eating every 2 to 3 hours. So, beginning with my Detox Drop, this is ideal for anyone wanting to work from the inside out. AND, learning the value of your lean body mass, specifically your lean muscle tissue, and the role it plays in keeping your metabolism on fire so you can burn fat all day long is essential for everyone. In other words, going green by cleansing and detoxifying your liver and colon is equally as important to optimizing your metabolism and getting the lean and healthy body you desire.
