Dara Torres Swims Into History With A Tenth Olympic Medal--What's Her Secret?
Aug 8, 2008 United States swimmers take to the pool Saturday, with much attention being given to Dara Torres.
Dara Torres is a 5-time Olympic swimmer—the most ever for an American swimmer, who began her incredible career at the tender age of 14, swimming her first international race. She is not the typical Olympian. Dara has consistently defied the odds, broken countless records, beaten swimmers less than half her age and will be the oldest female Olympic swimmer in history at age 41.

Out of the pool, Dara has been a television correspondent with Good Morning America, print model, motivational speaker, and is a mother. What keeps an over age 40 woman going this strong? Her child, Tessa. “It is Tessa who I am doing this for. To show her when she is a little older that life has no boundaries if you commit to your dreams and never stop believing in yourself….I can’t go a minute and
Previously, Dara set three World records, and won nine Olympic medals—four
of them gold. Anchoring the women's 400-meter freestyle, Dara helped bring home the Silver for her team. Now she holds ten Olympic medals.
In truth it’s really all about her training. Dara follows her own
customized, tried and true training schedule. As a 41-year-old mother of
a toddler, she has reduced her pool workout to one intense swim a day.
She has a team of people including two “stretchers” who travel with her, a
strength coach, a massage therapist, and a soft tissue therapist. In
addition, her incredibly focused diet is a huge part of her success, in which
LivingFuel products play a key role.

supplies its all-natural, organic line to those moving to the top of
their game. Relying on the high protein-antioxidant rich LivingFuel SuperBerry®

2004), Gal Fridman (Olympic Gold Medalist, Israel), JD Drew (Boston Red Sox
World Series, 2007; All Star MVP, 2008).
In August, 2007 Dara won another National title and broke her own
seven-year-old American Record in the 50-meter freestyle. Torres has
successfully made her comeback to competitive swimming by making her 5th
Olympic squad. She will represent the United States in the 50-meter freestyle
and possibly two relays at the Beijing Olympic Games. Dara Torres, an American inspiration, is an age-defying Olympian.
